New Year, New Legs, New You

For Andy Shaw, 2012 is a special year. For the first time in many years, he now has healthy veins free of ache and discomfort having had VNUS closure varicose vein removal treatment. I treated Andy under local anaesthetic in just a few hours without surgical scars or incisions. Andy’s veins had been getting worse over the course of several years and when they started hurting he finally realised he ought to do something about them.

Ignoring varicose veins, only allows the problem to … Continue reading »

BUPA and BMI Dispute

From 1st January 2012, Bupa plans to de-list 37 BMI hospitals following a dispute over hospital charges. The de-list includes the Harbour Hospital in Poole and the Bath Clinic, but as far as I can tell, it does not include the Winterbourne Hospital in Dorchester.

So what does this mean for you if you have Bupa private medical insurance and you want to have treatment by me and my team? Well, I am a specialist recognised by Bupa and your … Continue reading »

DVT Causes Another Death

I was very upset this week to hear of another death caused by deep vein thrombosis (DVT).  Alison Taylor who was only 29 years old was referred to her local hospital in Leicester with a suspected DVT following the birth of her daughter. She was admitted with a swollen leg, but she couldn’t have an ultrasound scan because these scans were not available on the maternity ward at weekends. Had she been seen in the casualty department, she probably would have had a scan straight away.  Sadly, she … Continue reading »

Massive Leg Vein Removal Without Scars

Amanda Noone

Amanda is very pleased in time for Christmas

This week I met Amanda Noone again. Last month, I treated a huge vein at the back of her right leg. It was over an inch wide (3cm in diameter) and stuck out at the back of her leg. It was causing Amanda pain when she bent her knee and she was very concerned that she might injure it and that it could bleed.

The Vein Removal Treatment

Amanda’s duplex ultrasound scan showed that she would be best treated by … Continue reading »

Facial Thread Veins Treated

Facial Thread Veins can be very distressing but there are ways of dealing with them.

Yesterday I met Frances Furlong on my training course in London and we chatted about the various methods of getting rid of these unwelcome veins. Frances is a very experienced and award-winning aesthetic nurse consultant and independent nurse prescriber who has busy clinics in London, Essex and Suffolk. She knows only too well the distress that thread veins on the face can cause.

Venous Reflux causing Varicose Eczema

Varicose Eczema

This Varicose Eczema has  been left too late to cure completely

Today a lady from Dorset came to see me about her varicose veins that were causing varicose eczema. She first went to see her GP in Somerset 3 years ago when the eczema started to appear. Unfortunately, the condition was not recognised and no action was taken. When she moved house and registered with a new GP in Dorset, he immediately identified the skin condition as varicose eczema and referred her … Continue reading »

New Hands for Christmas

Hand Veins Before

Enlarged Prominent Hand Veins Before Treatment

Today I met Rebbecca just a few weeks after I started treating her hand veins. Rebecca is a lovely lady who in nearly every respect looks younger than her age, except for her hands. When we first met, her hands were boney and she had large veins that made her hands look much older than the rest of her.  Now, the improvement has been dramatic and her hands look 20 years younger. I treated Rebbecca with a … Continue reading »
