Thank you for your question. There is no clear information in the medical literature on how frequently a scan should be performed for phlebitis. If the symptoms persist, if the phlebitis is extensive or near a deep vein, it would be reasonable to repeat the scan in 2 – 4 weeks. Speak to your GP or request a referral to a vein specialist.

Hello, if the duplex scan is undertaken; and shows only thrombosis in the superficial vein, how long before another duplex scan is needed to see if anything has changed?
I recently had a duplex scan that showed this, but I still get constant irritation, swelling and in turn, worry ankhs my legs.
Hope you can advise!

I have a lump at the back of my knee (which looks angry and is increasingly painful) and other enlarged veins in the calf. It has been diagnosed at the Conquest Hospital in Hastings as a category 2 varicose vein (leaky valve) and not sufficiently serious,min their opinion, to be eligible for the recommended foam sclerotherapy treatment on the NHS(at least not in this area). I can’t afford to get it done privately so is there any other way round it so that I can get it done on the NHS? Thank you,
