PROOF – REFLUX IS IMPORTANT

I go on about reflux a lot in my videos, my blogs and when I speak on the subject of veins at meetings. It might sound a little theoretical but I am going to show you the proof that reflux is important.

With the exception of deep vein thrombosis, nearly all leg vein problems are due to reflux. Now, whenever any fluid travels in the wrong direction in the body, the term reflux is used. So for example, if acid comes up in the wrong direction in the chest into the chest, the person is said … Continue reading »

I Can’t Believe It! My legs Are Like New After Varicose Veins Treatment

Painful Varicose Veins

June Cox has had an amazing result from her varicose veins treatment. June, who lives in Bournemouth in Dorset, initially saw me at my clinic in Poole. From an early age she had developed varicose veins in both legs which deteriorated when she started a family and became pregnant. Over the years they got worse causing her pain, discomfort, swelling and a “fidgety” sensation. Unfortunately, her GP couldn’t help her. Treatment for her varicose veins was not … Continue reading »

VenaSeal™ In Bristol – A First For The VeinCare Centre

Today, I performed the  FIRST VenaSeal™ procedure in Bristol. Sue West, who lives in Bristol,  has been troubled by aching, throbbing varicose veins in both legs for many years. She had been to see her GP, but unfortunately, treatment was not available on the NHS. Her duplex ultrasound scan confirmed that she had severe reflux in the superficial veins in both legs. This reflux was the cause of her ache, throbbing, swelling and unsightly varicose veins. I discussed the various treatment options with her and she decided to go ahead with the VenaSeal™ procedure. I was able to treat … Continue reading »

VenaSeal™ In The News

Sheila In Yesterday's Daily Express

Yesterday, one of my patients was featured in the Daily Express.  After having the Venaseal™ Closure System for the varicose veins in both her legs, Sheila Sibley from Yeovil can’t believe how good her legs feel. After years of restless, twitchy legs at night, Sheila hasn’t any problems since the varicose veins were treated. “Its early days” said Sheila, “but by now I am sure I would have had the … Continue reading »

Able to Wear Shorts for the First Time in 20 years

Sarah from Bristol is delighted with the improvement in the appearance of her legs. For the first time in 20 years, she wore shorts this summer, without feeling self-conscious.

Sarah’s Story

“I’ve had lumpy veins for years. They didn’t cause me any pain and I’ve never had any problems but I just didn’t like the look of them. I couldn’t wear shorts or go swimming on holiday because I felt self-conscious. I couldn’t get NHS treatment, so I searched the internet and found Dr Gajraj and The VeinCare Centre. He did a scan and explained the cause of the varicose veins and … Continue reading »

First To Offer Venaseal™ in The South West

Today, The VeinCare Centre was fully accredited by Sapheon Inc as a surgical facility to provide the Venaseal™Closure procedure. My team and I treated Martin Dare  by Venaseal™ and he is the very first person in the South West to benefit from this revolutionary nonsurgical treatment for superficial venous reflux. Martin’s procedure was performed under local anaesthetic in just 22 minutes and he was kind enough to allow me to photograph him leaving The VeinCare Centre 20 minutes after the “Super Glue” procedure had been completed.

SuperGlue for Veins – Watch the Video

Last week, I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to visit Dr Jens Alm in his clinic in Hamburg. Dr Alm has probably performed more of the VenaSeal procedures (“superglue” for veins) than anyone else in the world.

I was part of an international group of vein specialists who were receiving intensive instructional training and practical demonstrations of the VenaSeal technique. Dr Alm kindly allowed me to make this short video presentation which was filmed in his treatment suite.

I am grateful to Sapheon for an educational grant.

Venaseal™ or “superglue” treatment by Sapheon is a unique non-surgical treatment that uses a medical adhesive to safely and effectively treat varicose veins. Unlike other treatments, VenaSeal™ does not require tumescent local anaesthetic around the vein, so there are far fewer injections  than with treatments such as VNUS Closure or … Continue reading »
