The Winterbourne Hospital is situated one mile south of Dorchester town centre. From the east on the A35, join the Dorchester bypass signposted to Weymouth. At the Dorchester Football Club roundabout, turn right for Dorchester. Proceed to the traffic lights and turn right, then right again into Herringston Road where the hospital is situated. From the west, join Dorchester bypass signposted to Weymouth and Bournemouth. Turn left at the Dorchester Football roundabout, then proceed as above.

The nearest rail link is Dorchester South station on the London (Waterloo) to Weymouth line. There is also a rail link between Bristol and Dorchester West station.
